Cheese & Herbs Scones {Heart Smart} make a healthy addition to any meal!
When I serve soup or stew for dinner I like to pair it with rolls, hearty muffins, biscuits, or in this case, scones. And these Cheese & Herbs Scones {Heart Smart} are just perfect!
Sometimes I like to take shortcuts, like making these scones using a mix instead of making them from scratch.
I mean, I could make them from scratch, but there are times I just don’t feel like cutting butter into flour, like you do in homemade scones or biscuits.
I don’t have a pastry blender (never have), so there I am with two butter knives, for what some nights would feel like forever, cutting the butter.
It’s not that hard, I know, but some nights I just want to get the dinner on the table. Putting a few ingredients in a bowl and mixing it up is more what I’m looking for.
This recipe for Cheese & Herbs Scones {Heart Smart} only requires 6 ingredients. That’s it!
I serve them with my Healthier Slow Cooker Chicken Stew and Light & Creamy Potato Soup.
They go perfectly with these type of dishes.
I found this recipe on the Betty Crocker website and changed it up a bit. You could use any cheese you like, and whatever dried herbs you have on-hand.
Fresh herbs could also be used, but you would need to use around 1/4 cup.
I thought about brushing the top of these Cheese & Herbs Scones {Heart Smart} with butter, but decided against it because we are trying to eat healthier.
Looking for something similar but a little bit easier? Try these Easy Cheesy Drop Biscuits, they are yummy too!
We like our breads lightly browned, but you could certainly leave them in longer so they get more browned.
