Stuffed Pasta Shells

This is a wonderful Italian dish made with jar sauce, ground beef, Italian sausage, and cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1/2lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2lb bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 clove garlic,minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Container ricotta cheese (15 ounces)
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 28-30 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 jar pasta sauce (24 ounces)
  • Cooking spray

Directions

1. Cook pasta 2 minutes less than package instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water.
2. While the pasta cooks brown ground beef and sausage in a medium skillet. When the meat is almost finished add the garlic.
3. Preheat oven to 375°. Spray a 9" X 13" baking dish with cooking spray and put enough pasta sauce in the bottom of the dish so that it covers the surface.
4. Combine the meat mixture, egg, ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Stuff shells and place them in a single layer into prepared baking dish. Cover with foil.
5. Bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and add remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese and cook for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
