Learn how to roast a turkey in an electric roaster oven for a juicy, tender Thanksgiving turkey. This simple method uses an initial high heat followed by 350°F cooking for reliable results every time.
Take inside pan out of roaster oven and put the lid on it, preheat it to 450° for 15 minutes while you prepare the turkey. *It is important to know that the outside of the roaster oven gets very hot so you will want to put it out of the reach of small children and make sure everyone knows not to touch it.
Mix the softened butter with fresh parsley, salt and pepper.
½ cup softened butter , ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper
Remove giblets and reserve if you plan on using them to make gravy. Place turkey breast side up on rack in roasting pan. Pat skin dry with a paper towel, do NOT wash the turkey.

Sprinkle salt and pepper into cavity, then place onion, carrot and celery in cavity as well. Rub herbed butter mixture all over outside of turkey. Tuck wings under body and tie up legs if needed.

When roaster is preheated carefully place inside pan into roaster oven, cover and cook 30 minutes. After 30 minutes reduce the heat to 350° and continue to cook for a total of 10 minutes per pound. Do not take the lid off.
Remove turkey from roasting pan and place on a platter. Tent with foil and allow to rest for about one-half hour.
Carve and serve.
