Homemade Chocolate Syrup for Coffee

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Sift the cocoa into a small saucepan.
  • Add sugar and water and cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the cocoa and sugar dissolves. 
  • Take off the heat and whisk in the vanilla and salt. 

Notes

Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container like a glass bottle or mason jar for a month or so. 
This thickens up a little bit but is a thin syrup. 
This is a rich chocolate syrup that isn't too sweet, if you want it sweeter you can add more sugar, ½ cup more.
