Ingredient Notes
- sugar cookies – we use premade place and bake sugar cookie dough to make this simple. You can use homemade or slice and bake cookie dough.
- cream cheese – I like the block cream cheese for this because it is less expensive and firmer than the type in the plastic container.
- marshmallow creme – this is on the aisle with the marshmallows and comes in a plastic container.
- fresh fruit – I chose to use fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries but you can use your favorite combination of fruit.
- candy – jelly orange slices for the nose and chocolate chips for the eyes and nose on some of the cookies.
How to make individual sugar cookie fruit pizzas
- Start by washing the fruit and drying it well with paper towels, make sure it is completely dry.
- Bake the cookies according to the package directions – place cookie dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake at 350° for 13-17 minutes or until edges start to turn very light golden brown.
- While the cookies bake cut the orange slice into small triangles for the nose. Cut raspberries in half for the ear muffs. Cut strawberries, I used a Wilton round tip to punch out small pieces of strawberry to use as the eyes and mouth. A straw might work too.
- Let cookies cool 2 minutes on the cookie sheet and then move to a cooling rack.
- In a large bowl combine the cream cheese and marshmallow creme with an electric mixer until completely combined.
- Spread a generous amount of cream cheese mixture onto the top of each cookie. Place blueberries around the top for the band on the earmuffs, raspberry halves for the ear muffs, pieces of strawberry for the eyes and mouth, and a triangle for the nose.
Recipe note – I won’t lie, using strawberry pieces for the eyes and nose is tedious. So I switched to chocolate chips for some of the snowmen. I think mini chocolate chips would work really well too.
Tip
The cream cheese will mix better with the marshmallow creme if it’s room temperature. If you don’t have time to take it out of the fridge before you make these you can lay the package on the stove top, flipping it over a couple of times, while you bake the cookies and it will soften up enough to mix well.
Variations
- Short on time? Use store-bought baked sugar cookies.
- This type of cookie dough comes out perfectly round but if yours aren’t round then take a round glass and place it over the warm cookie and gently move it in a circular motion so your cookies are perfectly round.
- You can add about a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the frosting for additional flavor.
- Get creative and use whatever edible ingredients you want to make the earmuffs, eyes, nose and mouth.
- You can use my delicious cream cheese frosting made with Cool Whip instead of this. I use it on my American Flag Fruit Pizza, so check it out if you don’t want to use marshmallow creme.
- Vanilla frosting would also work great for these snowman cookies.
Storage
Store fruit pizza cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-4 days. The cut fruit starts to break down a little and bleed into the frosting after the first day but they are still good. The cookie starts to get very soft and will break apart after a couple of days so these are best enjoyed shortly after they are made.
