Canned Air Fryer Biscuits are great for busy weeknight dinners or a lazy weekend breakfast or brunch. While we love homemade buttermilk biscuits, there are times when we want (or need) to prepare a meal quickly.
Using premade biscuit dough and air frying is the best solution we’ve found. We can enjoy warm, fluffy biscuits in just minutes—who doesn’t love that?!
We’re pretty loyal to Pillsbury canned biscuits and cinnamon rolls. I’ve tried store brands but always come back to Pillsbury. Ingredient Notes
You only need two things to make air fryer biscuits!
Refrigerated Biscuits – we use Grands biscuits for this recipe, they are jumbo biscuits and come either 8 or 5 to a can. Use your favorite brand.
Cooking Spray – whatever brand or variety you have on hand. We usually buy the store brand canola spray but will buy olive oil or vegetable oil sometimes.
How to Make Easy Air Fryer Biscuits
- Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with a little cooking spray.
- Place biscuits in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook at 330° for 6 minutes, flip over and cook another 2 minutes or until the biscuits are a nice golden brown color.
Different air fryers may not cook the same
You may need to adjust the cooking time or cook at a higher or lower temperature. It took trial and error for us to end up with perfect biscuits in our particular air fryer model. Once you figure out exactly how many minutes of cook time and what temperature is ideal for your air fryer then you can do it that way every single time.
Tips
- I use a pair of tongs that have a silicone coating on them to turn the biscuits over so I don’t scratch my air fryer.
- We do not put parchment paper in the bottom of the air fryer basket because the air needs to circulate all around the biscuits, even underneath. If you want to use it you can, just poke some holes in it so the air will circulate.
- This recipe is for Grands refrigerated biscuits, if you are making smaller biscuits or frozen biscuits then you will definitely need to adjust the cooking time either down or up a significant amount.
Serving suggestions for air-fryer biscuits
- As a side. These biscuits topped with a little butter are the perfect way to round out any meal making them a great side dish.
- Breakfast sammies. These are nice and big so they are perfect for a breakfast sandwich. Add a fried or scrambled egg, with a little ham or bacon and some cheese (of course!).
- Biscuits and gravy. Just top the halved biscuits with bacon, sausage or cream gravy for the ultimate quick and comforting dish.
- Sweet treats. Transform them into the perfect sweet snack or dessert by adding some cinnamon sugar or jam or fruit preserves.
- Air fryer donuts. Top with a sweet glaze and some sprinkles for a fun breakfast the kids will adore.
Storage & Reheating
Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container, we use a zip top freezer bag. Reheat cooked biscuits in the microwave for 15-30 seconds.
What we love about these air fryer biscuits
- Canned biscuits are a convenient alternative to homemade biscuits.
- The air fryer method is quicker than the regular oven method.
- These biscuits can either be the main part of a meal (I’m thinking biscuits and gravy or bacon, egg and cheese biscuits) or an easy side dish.
- They be a quick and satisfying dessert if you top them with melted butter and add cinnamon sugar, jelly or honey.
- Frees up valuable oven space.
Frequently Asked Questions
This usually happens when the biscuits are cooked at too high of a temperature, causing the outside to cook faster than the inside. Try lowering the temperature by 10-15 degrees and increase the cooking time slightly. Also, make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket, as proper air circulation is key to even cooking.
Air frying biscuits typically takes about 8 minutes, whereas baking them in a conventional oven can take at least 15 minutes, not including the time it takes to preheat the oven. So, using an air fryer can cut the total cooking time by more than half, making it a quicker option for busy days.
They come out slightly different. The outside of the biscuit tends to be crispier, while the inside stays soft and fluffy. This creates a nice contrast in texture that you might not get from traditional oven-baked biscuits.
For best results, place the biscuits in a single layer in the air fryer. The sides of the biscuits can touch slightly. The biscuits will still cook evenly and turn golden brown, though you may notice a few spots on the sides that aren’t as browned. Depending on the size of your air fryer you may need to cook them in batches to ensure even cooking.

Can you use a parchment liner and cook them with the same directions?
Mindy Boyd says
Hi Lisa – I am not sure, I didn’t line mine.

I always use Pillsbury Frozen biscuits, taste much better than the canned dough type to me. I’ve keep them in freezer and put one or two in mornings in my Emeril Lagase toaster over/air fryer and put it on 400 for 8 minutes and its perfect. Sometimes I put two bacon slices in or a sausage and enjoy a biscuit with my coffee. My wife is wanting one of the ‘basket type’ air fryers and I can’t see a way with those to put biscuits. Those air fryers look more like a deep fryer to me. Do they work well for baking biscuits like the ones with shelves in them?
Mindy Boyd says
I haven’t used the toaster oven type but the basket style air fryers cook both canned and frozen biscuits nicely. I have a post on this blog for the frozen variety also. We like them in the air fryer because it’s faster than the regular oven. I like the basket style air fryer because it’s easier to put away, I don’t want to keep the air fryer on the counter. The only appliances I keep out are the coffee maker and the KitchenAid mixer.
Megan says
Do you put them in the slotted basket or on the solid bottom?
Mindy Boyd says
I put them on the slotted basket.
Vicki V says
Love this. I tried it and followed directions exactly except I put only 6 of the 8 biscuits in because my air fryer is smaller. It was too hot to heat up the regular oven. Thanks for this.
Mindy Boyd says
You’re welcome, we use our air fryer a lot in the summer too.
Barbara says
I made sure to preheat and added a couple of extra minutes.
Mindy Boyd says
Cooking time varies depending on what type of air fryer you have, a couple of extra minutes in my air fryer results in over cooked biscuits. I find it isn’t necessary to preheat the air fryer.
Susan says
I tried this recipe and the outside was nice and browned perfectly, but the inside, when I cut it open, looked done, but it was still a chewy and not in a good way. So instead of tossing them, I’ll cut them open and Air Fry them for a minute or two to finish cooking them. I used my 5.5 quart basket air fryer, but next time I’ll use my 7 quart basket to see if they turn out better.
Mindy Boyd says
Great save! You might try lowering the heat a bit too, maybe 10 or 20 degrees. Also, subsequent batches might cook faster.
Dustin says
Awesome! I have the same fryer as you so no guessing..

That is fabulous, we love ours. Thanks for commenting!
