Our Whipped Strawberry Honey Butter recipe is made with three simple ingredients – fresh strawberries, sweet honey and creamy butter. This no-cook recipe is ready in about 10 minutes. It’s also my favorite color – pink!

A small mason jar filled with Whipped Strawberry Honey Butter, there is a container of strawberries in the background.

Our favorite ways to enjoy this tasty butter is on toast, biscuits, bagels, English muffins, pancakes, French toast, banana bread, and yeast rolls. Pretty much any sweet foods you would eat butter on.

I first learned about strawberry butter in 2017 when Lee and I went out of town. It was our first ever trip without kids, for our 25th wedding anniversary.

We stopped for dinner at a buffet style restaurant in a small town in Missouri. I can’t even remember the name of the little town. They had regular butter, honey butter, and strawberry butter, all whipped.

Lee and I ate yeast rolls with strawberry butter for dessert. It was so yummy!

My first thought was, what kind of sheltered life have I been living where I have never heard of this before?! Such a simple idea, and I vowed I would be making it someday. Today is finally that day!

    Ingredients

See recipe card for exact amounts.

Two sticks of butter, chopped strawberries and honey measured out to make the Whipped Strawberry Honey Butter recipe.

    Ingredients Notes

butter – we use real unsalted butter. Margarine or plant based butter can be used.

strawberries – look for strawberries that are bright red in color without white or green spots. The green stems should be green and not wilted. They should be firm and free of soft spots.

honey – we buy local honey whenever possible.

How to make whipped strawberry butter

    1. Wash strawberries and pat dry with paper towels.
    2. Cut strawberries into small pieces.
    3. In a medium bowl mash the strawberries with a fork. Add the room temperature butter and the honey. Beat with a hand mixer until combined and fluffy.

    Tips

    • I use the beaters that look more like heavy wire, an not the flat style, so not a lot of the butter sticks to them.
    • We always start the hand mixer on low speed, then increase to medium speed, and then finally on the highest speed to make our butter light and fluffy without making a mess.
    • Let the butter come to room temperature for a few minutes before using it, if possible, so it’s easy to spread. Or you could pop it into the microwave on defrost for a few seconds so it’s a spreadable consistency.
    • We let whatever we are putting this on cool down just a bit so it doesn’t completely melt into it. To me it tastes better if it isn’t totally melted.

How to use this delicious butter

Here are a few ideas for what to put this homemade strawberry butter on.

    • toast
    • biscuits
    • bagels
    • English muffins
    • pancakes
    • French toast
    • banana bread
    • yeast rolls

    Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week, or in the freezer for about a month. If it starts to change colors or not look right then discard it.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can I use frozen strawberries?

Yes, frozen strawberries are a great option to make this any time of year. You may need to add more honey so it’s sweet enough.

    Can this be made diary-free?

Using your favorite plant based butter is a great way to cut out the dairy in this recipe.

I’m not sure why that happened, this recipe has worked for me every single time I’ve made it.

I would use it within a week or so or freeze it for up to a month. If it starts to look questionable within the week I would eat it or dispose of it.
