Craving a McDonald’s Big Mac but not the carb crash that comes with the bun? Same. That’s why I whipped up this Big Mac Wrap recipe—because sometimes you want all the flavor without needing a nap afterward.

Three Big Mac Wraps on a wooden cutting board so the end is visible.

Big Mac Cravings Made Easy (in Wrap Form!)

These delicious big mac wraps may have had their 15 minutes of TikTok fame, but they’re still going strong in my kitchen. Made with savory beef, melty cheese, fresh lettuce, onions, tangy dill chips, and my homemade take on the iconic Big Mac sauce, all bundled up in a soft tortilla.

Best part? It only takes a few simple ingredients to make this fast-food favorite a weeknight reality—no drive-thru required.

I love making my own versions of popular restaurant favorites and viral dishes you’d normally grab to-go. I’ve done it with Arby’s Chicken Salad, Chili’s Queso, Olive Garden Creamy Italian Dressing, and even Hellmann’s Potato Salad.

And if you’re into coffeehouse-style treats at home, be sure to check out my Beverages category and my Coffee Syrups, Sauces, and Creamers section for more fun DIY favorites!

    Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

In true Mindy’s Cooking Obsession fashion, I’m proudly calling in reinforcements—from the grocery store. If someone else already shredded the lettuce and shaped the patties, who am I to argue? This meal’s all about fast, fuss-free prep. Zero shame. Maximum flavor.

    • Beef: As I mentioned above, I let the store do the shaping—pre-made beef patties for the win. I like the ⅓-pound 85/15 kind for these wraps. Want to save a buck? Shape your own with 1 pound of ground beef and make quarter-pounders. Boom-more budget-friendly Big Mac Wraps.
    • Shredded Lettuce: I like shredded iceberg for this, use a romaine blend if you’re feeling fancy.
    • Pickles: Dill pickles are the Big Mac standard, and I’m sticking to tradition. But hey, it’s your kitchen—use bread and butter pickles, spicy ones, or whatever floats your burger boat.
    • Cheese: American cheese melts like a dream. There’s just no denying it. But if you’ve got strong cheddar feelings, cheddar cheese works too.
    • Tortillas: I use Extreme Wellness whole wheat tortillas because they’re soft, tasty, and don’t require any warming—just wrap and roll. Not counting carbs or calories? Use any tortilla you love.
    • Onion: It’s on a Big Mac, so it’s going on my wrap. Not a fan? Leave them off.
    • Homemade Big Mac Sauce: This one’s easy and so worth it. You’ll need mayo, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and a splash of white wine vinegar. Mix it up, slather it on, and enjoy your DIY “special sauce” moment.

How to Make Big Mac Wraps

Here’s a quick look at the steps (with photos). You’ll find more detailed instructions in the recipe card below.

The finished homemade secret sauce in a small metal bowl.

     Make the sauce.

Four hamburger patties in the skillet they were cooked in.

    Cook the burgers.

The hamburger patties after cheese has been added and they've each been cut into four strips.

Cut burgers into fourths and place the pieces in the center of each tortilla.

Top with lettuce, onions, pickles and sauce. Roll and enjoy!

How to Make a Healthier Big Mac Wrap Recipe

Want to lighten things up a bit? You can totally Big Mac your way—just with a few smarter swaps:

    • Wrap it right – Go for low carb or whole wheat tortillas. They’re soft, tasty, and cut back on carbs without cutting flavor. I use Extreme Wellness Whole Wheat, they’re keto (not why I use them but a bonus).
    • Ditch the beef – Try Impossible Meat, veggie burgers, or even a turkey burger. Loose ground turkey or chicken work great too.
    • Cheese check – There’s actually a fat-free version of American cheese that still melts pretty well.
    • Sauce smarter – Use olive oil mayo or a light mayo to keep the flavor but cut the fat.
    • Load the lettuce – Not only does it give crunch, it also bulks things up in the best way.

Healthy doesn’t have to mean boring—and these swaps prove it. Still delicious, just a little easier on the waistline.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use loose meat and shredded cheese instead?

Absolutely! If patties aren’t your thing just brown up the loose meat in a skillet and season lightly with salt and pepper. Use about ¼ pound per wrap. As for the cheese, shredded cheese works just fine—it won’t be as melty, but it still delivers on flavor. No judgment here—we’re all about using what you’ve got.

What size tortillas should I use?

I like the medium (or even large if you want to fold up one end) burrito size so everything fits without turning into a beefy mess. If all you have are smaller ones, just make mini wraps.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Sort of. You can cook the patties and mix the sauce ahead, but I recommend assembling just before serving to keep things fresh and crisp. If you don’t mind a cold wrap, go ahead and build them in advance and stash them in the fridge. Just know the cheese won’t be melty and the lettuce might lose some crunch. Still tasty—just not hot-off-the-skillet tasty.

    Ingredients

    For the Big Mac Wraps:

    • 4 hamburger patties ⅓ pound each
    • salt to taste
    • black pepper to taste
    • 4 slices American cheese
    • 4 flour tortillas
    • 1 cup shredded lettuce
    • ¼ cup finely diced onions
    • 12 -ish large dill pickles

For the Big Mac Secret Sauce

    • ¼ cup mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
    • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
    • ½ teaspoon white wine vinegar
    • ½ teaspoon paprika
    • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    • Make the Big Mac sauce: In a small bowl, mix together all of the sauce ingredients until well combined. Set aside.
    • Cook the burgers: Season the hamburger patties with salt and pepper. Cook them in a large skillet over medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked. Add a slice of cheese to each patty during the last 2–3 minutes of cooking, and let it melt.
    • Assemble the wraps: Cut each burger into four strips. Place the pieces in the center of each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced onions, pickles, and a generous drizzle of the sauce. Roll up the tortillas and enjoy!

    Notes

I place the burger patties on a paper towel lined plate after cooking them to soak up a little of the grease.
I usually have a bit of sauce leftover.
