The raw chicken, salt, pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and olive oil needed to make this recipe.

    Ingredient Notes

    • Chicken: try to select pieces close in size for even cooking.
    • Italian seasoning: typically oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, or sage.
    • Olive oil: regular or store brand works. Canola or vegetable oil is fine too.
    • Garlic powder: not garlic salt.

How to Make Oven-Baked Chicken Breast

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil (optional for easier cleanup).
    2. Trim any fat from the chicken breasts.
    3. In a large bowl, mix olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the mixture evenly over the chicken.
    4. Place the chicken in a single layer on the baking sheet.
    5. Bake for 30–45 minutes, depending on size, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
    6. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing or serving.

How Long to Bake Chicken Breast at 350°F

The baking time depends on the size of your chicken breast. Use the chart below as a guide:

    • 6–8 ounces: 30 minutes
    • 10–12 ounces: 35 minutes
    • 12–14 ounces: 40 minutes
    • 16–18 ounces: 45 minutes

Tip: Always check the internal temperature with an instant-read thermometer. It should reach 165°F in the thickest part of the breast.

    Tips & Shortcuts

    • Use a kitchen scale to pick similarly sized pieces for even cooking.
    • Check doneness: if you don’t have a thermometer, cut into the thickest part — juices should run clear.
    • Flavor variations: try chili powder, cumin, lemon pepper, onion powder, BBQ rub, smoked paprika, cayenne, or fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, oregano, basil, or sage.

    Storage

Perfect for meal prep — we prep for the week every Sunday and have no issues with freshness.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for 4–5 days.
