What are Big Mac Smash Tacos?
Big Mac Smash Tacos are flour tortillas topped with a thin layer of seasoned ground beef, cooked smash burger-style, then topped with American cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, and Big Mac sauce. They combine the flavors of a Big Mac with the crispy edges of a smash burger.

Who doesn’t love a Big Mac? We sure do, and sometimes we like to put a fun spin on popular takeout favorites.
One of my favorites is my Big Mac Wraps, where cooked hamburger is sliced into strips and wrapped in a flour tortilla with all the classic toppings.
These Big Mac Smash Tacos are another fun twist on the traditional burger. They cook up quickly and have the crispy edges that make smash burgers so irresistible.
Serve them with my homemade potato wedges for a quick, easy meal the whole family will love.
Ingredients

Ingredient Notes
- Ground Beef: I use lean ground beef, usually 93/7, but 80/20 makes juicier smash tacos.
- Tortillas: Taco-size (about 5½ inches across) flour tortillas are perfect for making eight smash tacos from one pound of ground beef.
- Cheese: American cheese melts best, so that’s what I use, but any sliced cheese will work.
- Toppings: Shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped yellow onion, and dill pickle chips are the classic Big Mac toppings.
- Big Mac Sauce: My homemade special sauce is made with mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, mustard, white wine vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. White vinegar or apple cider vinegar both work well. If you don’t want to make your own, store-bought Thousand Island dressing is a good shortcut, though it’s thinner than the homemade sauce.
How to Make Big Mac Smash Tacos
Here’s a quick look at the main steps. See the recipe card below for complete instructions.

Press a thin layer of ground beef onto one side of each tortilla.

Cook meat-side down, flip, and melt the cheese on top.
Tips for Making Big Mac Smash Tacos
- Prep the toppings and sauce before you start cooking. These tacos cook quickly, so it’s easiest if the lettuce, onion, pickles, and sauce are ready to go.
- Spread the beef into a thin, even layer almost to the edge of each tortilla. The beef will shrink as it cooks, especially if you’re using 80/20 ground beef.
- Keep finished tacos warm in a 200°F oven if you’re cooking in batches.
- Use a large griddle if you have one. It lets you cook up to four tacos at a time, making the recipe come together much faster.
Storage and Reheating
Store leftover tacos without the lettuce, onions, pickles, and sauce in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, or warm in a skillet over medium heat until heated through.
