Lee and I are both huge coffee lovers, and while I’m all for supporting our local coffee shop now and then, I love making a homemade version because I can adjust the ingredients to make it just the way I like it. Iced coffee is the perfect refreshing treat for hot summer days when a cup of hot coffee just feels to heavy. It’s cool, creamy, and full of that rich coffee flavor without the coffee shop price tag!

A carton of heavy cream, small bottle of milk, mason jar with cold brew coffee and mason jar of caramel syrup.

    Ingredient Notes

    • Strong Brewed Coffee: Use any cold coffee you have. I use my homemade cold brew, store-bought cold brew or use your leftover coffee that’s cooled to room temperature or chilled can be used. You can even used instant coffee if you want.
    • Caramel Syrup: I use my homemade caramel syrup in this recipe, it’s an easy recipe using only sugar, vanilla extract, and water. Any store-bought caramel syrup works great too!
    • Heavy Cream: This gives ours that creamy consistency just like the coffee shop version.
    • Whole Milk: We like the coffee to be slightly creamy so we use a mixture of cream and milk.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    1. Add the coffee, cream, milk, and caramel syrup to a tall glass and stir to combine.
    2. Fill to the top with ice cubes. For a decadent caramel coffee add a little whipped cream and drizzle of caramel sauce to the top of each glass.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can this iced caramel coffee be made dairy-free?

Absolutely! Just swap the heavy cream for a plant based version and swap the regular milk for a dairy-free alternative such as almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or cashew milk.

Can I use half and half instead of cream and milk?

Yes! Half and half is a great option to use just one ingredient instead of two. Just use two tablespoons of half in half for the one tablespoon of each cream and milk.

Can this be made ahead of time?

Yep, just mix everything together but the ice and store it in an airtight container, like a mason jar, in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Give it a good stir or shake it up before serving over ice.
